Herbal medicine from the Andean of Oruro, Bolivia

Nearly 3,000 plants with medicinal properties are reported in Bolivia. The focus of this study was to document the traditional knowledge and uses of medicinal plants of five rural areas in the department of Oruro, Bolivia. Voucher specimen were prepared and vernacular names of plants, diseases treated, and preparation of the remedy were registered. As results, two specimens were recognized: Ñaka thola (Baccharis incarum) y Tollila (Parestrephia lucida) as most common in all localities. These medicinal plants reported are native. With this contribution it has increased mayor information on medicinal plants from Andean areas, and use as a basis for other studies.
